The Stronghold: Powerless Christianity
One of the most dangerous lies in the modern Church is that the supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit ceased with the apostles. This belief creates a powerless version of Christianity — one based solely on knowledge, but lacking demonstration.
This stronghold teaches believers to expect nothing, pray passively, and dismiss miracles as emotionalism or deception.
What Scripture Actually Teaches
The Bible never says the gifts would stop before Christ returns. In fact, Paul tells us that spiritual gifts will continue “until we all reach unity in the faith… and become mature” (Ephesians 4:13).
Jesus promised that those who believe in Him would do the works He did — and even greater (John 14:12). The early Church walked in power because they depended entirely on the Holy Spirit.
The gifts listed in 1 Corinthians 12 — healing, prophecy, tongues, discernment, and others — were never meant to fade. They were meant to build the Church.
Why This Stronghold Is So Damaging
- It produces dry, intellectual Christianity without power.
- It discourages believers from praying boldly or stepping out in faith.
- It causes suspicion and fear toward Spirit-filled believers.
- It denies people the full ministry of the Holy Spirit — healing, deliverance, comfort, and guidance.
God never stopped moving — but religion and fear tried to explain away His power.
What We See Today
All around the world, God is still healing, delivering, speaking, and empowering His people. Testimonies of miracles, prophetic encounters, and supernatural provision abound — and they’re not limited to revival meetings.
This is the normal Christian life. Not always dramatic — but always supernatural.
Call to Action
Ask God to reignite your faith for the supernatural.
Study the gifts of the Spirit with an open heart (1 Corinthians 12–14).
Invite the Holy Spirit to move in and through you daily.
Don’t settle for a powerless gospel — Jesus is alive, and His Spirit still works today.
Let’s tear down the stronghold that says, “God no longer moves,” and step into a life of bold, Spirit-led faith.
